Wesley Echeverria Cooper lived by three absolute truths: his love of God, his love for his family
and his love for his country.

Born on March 7, 1948, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, he was preceded in death by his father
Rev. Raul Echeverria and mother Sybil Echeverria née Cooper. He was one of eight children:
Lois Harris, Rinna Hernandez, Zemi Gonzalez (deceased), Raul “Lico” Echeverria, Sibyl “Betty”
Hernandez, Eduardo “Canche” Echeverria and Milton Echeverria.

He was the typical rebellious pastor’s son, but his independent streak led him to forge his own
path by immigrating to the U.S. in 1981 with his bride of almost 52 years, Rosie Echeverria née
Rodgriguez, and his three children, Janis Cirkles, Ione Villegas and Ian Echeverria. He also
loved as his own: Regina Ortiz née Rodriguez, Bobby Cirkles, Stacey Echeverria and Leo
Villegas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Megan Cirkles,Cara Cirkles, Ethan
Echeverria, Madison Villegas, Evan Echeverria and Lucas Villegas.

He was a “mud engineer” for 40 years. During his career, he traveled the world. He visited 39
countries and learned to appreciate diverse cultures. He had a love of astronomy, photography
and grilling. He loved teaching his four-legged daughter, Australian Shepherd “Moxie,” new
tricks. He did not know many strangers in his life. Anyone who came to his house was a
welcomed guest who was treated to a feast.

Wesley always lived in the moment. He never put off till tomorrow what he could do today. He
would often say: “When it’s my time to go, it’s my time to go.” He wouldn’t wait until tomorrow to
tell you that he loved you or help you if you were in need. He lived by the Golden Rule and
never expected anything in return. He lived with strength, faith and dignity until his last breath.

When you live a worthy life, your loved ones don’t remember the petty arguments or
disagreements. They are filled with love and profound memories that will carry them through the
days ahead. Wesley was an amazing son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He died on
February 8, but we will cherish all the moments we had with him on this Earth.
