It is with great sadness that the family of Sandy Peters announce that she passed away at the age of 63 in Mesquite, Texas on February 22, 2021 after a long struggle with COVID19.
Sandy was born on August 30, 1957 in El Paso, Texas to Roger S. Bell and Evelyn Davenport Bell and passed away on February 22, 2021 in Mesquite, Texas. She graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso, Texas in 1975. She received a BS in Education in 1979 from the University of Texas-El Paso and an MS in Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1997. While both were attending UTEP, Sandra met the love of her life, John R. Peters, and were married August 30, 1979 in El Paso, Texas.
Sandy was a devoted teacher for 30 years with Mesquite ISD retiring in 2016. She was inducted into Mesquite ISD's Apple Corps program which rewards excellence in teaching by honoring outstanding MISD teachers. For her dedication and professionalism in teaching mentally handicapped children to read, Sandy was presented by US Senator Phil Gramm the American flag which had been flown over the US Capitol building on May 12, 1994 in her honor.
Sandra Peters is survived by her husband of 41 years, John Raymond Peters; sons Jeffrey John Peters (India) and Stephan Daniel Peters; grandchildren Cameron Ian Peters, Spencer Daniel Peters and Grayson Cheyenne Peters; mother Evelyn D. Bell; sisters Susan Evans (Dave), Sally Turley and Shirley Baird; and by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Roger S. Bell.
