Mary Joyce Lewis

Mary was born November 11,1938 in Mount Calm Texas. Mary was a long time resident of Balch Springs and Mesquite, Texas and resided for the last 16 years in Cypress, Texas with her youngest daughter Janet Lewis Bankhead. She went to the arms of Jesus on March 22,2023.

Mary was preceded in death by our dad, William Edward Lewis and her granddaughter, Stacy Darlene Bankhead.  She is survived by her children, Ginger Gage, Steven Lewis, Olie Annette Lewis Stringer and Janet Lewis Bankhead. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

On a personal note, I would like to thank my sister and her husband, Janet and Brad Bankhead for taking mom into their home 16 years ago and caring for her until the end.  Mom wasn’t the easiest person to live with but you made it work. You treated her like a queen and you went beyond giving her what she needed, you gave her everything she wanted.  But more importantly you gave of yourselves and I know mom loved the time all of you gave to her. 

She always talked about how Logan kept her refrigerator stocked with water and he made sure she had breakfast and lunch every day. And Bradley with his beautiful smile would light up her day every time she saw him. I will be eternally grateful to Brad for the loving conversations you had with mom and caring for her daily. The depth of love she had for you is immeasurable. 

It’s no easy task to care for an elderly and ailing parent, it’s a sacrifice you gladly make and Janet, you did a wonderful job and you should take pride in knowing mom was truly thankful and happy that she had such a good life with you.

I will leave this memorial with one thing I think mom would have wanted everyone to remember.
