Judy Almyra Gates

Judy Gates, 78, went home to our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2023, in Plano, TX. Judy was born October 28, 1944 in Sulphur Springs, TX. The youngest of five children, she is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Maude Orr, sisters, Bobbie Pinson and Sue Coke, brother, Joe Dan Orr and husband, Bud Gates. Judy Gates is survived by her brother Billy Wayne Orr and wife Kay, first husband and father of her children, James Bell, Son, Kevin Bell and wife Cheryl, Daughter, Kristi Bell Gray and husband Scott, Grandsons, James Bell, Jason Bell and wife Lindsey, Kyle Bell and fiance Alli McCarty, Granddaughters, Tayler and Nariana Gray, Great-Grandsons, Landon and Andrew Bell and many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved.

Judy was never happier than during fellowship with her family and friends. She welcomed everyone with open arms and often made sure that she had something special to share with those she loved. Affectionately known as "Mama Judy" to countless friends of her children, that she loved as if they were all her own and many others, Mama Judy left a legacy of love, generosity and protection to all who entered her doors. From basketball in school, raising Pomeranians, Square dancing with her late husband, attending church, backyard cookouts with family and friends and cuddling with her pup Smores, Judy enjoyed getting the most out of her life here with us. She is truly adored and will be greatly missed, but we will see you again.

Visitation: February 2, 2023 - 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at New Hope Funeral Home 500 US 80 Sunnyvale, TX 75182.

The service to celebrate the life of Judy Gates will be held on February 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at Calvary First Baptist Church 2850 E. Glen Blvd Mesquite, TX 75181, officiated by Pastor, Richard Koons and followed by lunch between 12 noon to 1:00 pm at Calvary First Baptist Church.

Burial: February 3, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Pleasant Grove Cemetery North 1008 Co. Rd. 4759 Sulphur Springs, TX 75482
