Jason Glenn Rorie

Jason Glenn Rorie was born June 30, 1961 in Dallas, Texas to Ann (Galloway) and Julian "Punch" Rorie. He passed away in August 2022 at the Rorie family home in Mesquite, Texas. He is survived by his brother Chris Rorie, his nephews Benjamin and Joshua Rorie, and his niece Gabrielle (Rorie) Behrend, as well as numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

Jason was dedicated to family and friends, often seeing no delineation between the two. He was the highlight of family gatherings, with his niece and nephews looking forward to gifts of dollar-store toys, beef jerky, and small explosives. He made old-fashioned hard work fun, turning afternoons of wood splitting, pecan-cracking, and livestock interment into rock and roll and beer-fueled neighborhood gatherings.

Jason was a lover of life, from live entertainment to live rounds, but most especially, lively people. He was big-hearted and a taker-in of strays: People, dogs, cats, goats, and even raccoons. An avid collector, he maintained a prolific assortment of vehicles, firearms, model and full-size helicopters, rodeo memorabilia, off-color t-shirts, and hot rod-themed erotica. With a fitful curiosity, he took up many hobbies, including leatherworking, bull-riding, barbecuing, Cajun cooking, extreme couponing, and candle-making.

For all his eccentricities, Jason will be sorely missed, leaving behind family, friends, and an entire city whose lives were enriched by his presence.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 9 at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. A memorial service will be held the following day at 2:00 PM.
