Glenn Houston Reasor, Jr

Glenn Houston Reasor Jr was born in Frederick, Oklahoma, on November 15, 1967. Despite his Oklahoma birth, we still claim him as Texan. Glenn passed suddenly on July 5, 2022, at 54 in Mesquite, Texas.

Those left behind grieve together by sharing our stories of Glenn Jr and how he impacted our lives. Sharing this news is never easy, nor is it easy to receive. The shock and loss are significant.

As the news spread of Glenn's untimely departure, the one resounding comment shared by all was, "Glenn was so funny!" He loved to laugh, and even more than laughing, he loved making people laugh. Glenn was a kid at heart, ALWAYS! Glenn wore many hats here on earth and was multifaceted. He had an eternal thirst for knowledge and poured over books, novels, articles, blog posts, bibles, magazine articles, music periodicals, CDs, and anything he could get his hands on. He was like a walking encyclopedia. Glenn was a great conversationalist and always had something intelligent or enlightening to add. He never missed an opportunity to zing a witty reply that would instantly have you doubled over in laughter.

Reflecting on Glenn's life, it's easy to see why so many people were drawn to him. He was easygoing, approachable, and always ready to share something hilarious.

Glenn was a curious, tenacious musician. His passion was music. Whether creating new beats or waxing poetic, he was in his element when making and enjoying music. As a young guy, his dreams and aspirations always included owning his own fireworks store, being a drummer in a metal band, fireworks inventor, songwriter, fireworks tester, guitarist, pyrotechnician, keyboardist, and fireworks spectator, or bassist. Though he was accomplished in drums, bass guitar, keyboard, and piano, he truly loved playing the guitar. He could shred on an electric guitar or play acoustically, and he had a knack for replicating guitar solos that would make Angus Young proud. Glenn was in several bands over the years and loved performing. Have you ever been to a concert in a storage facility? If yes, you might have watched Glenn in one of his many garage bands. Rented storage units were the stages where friends would gather to hear the latest cover of Metallica or AC/DC. It was long hair and spandex pants for sure.

Glenn Jr loved to fly. His Dad purchased a Piper Cherokee airplane, and Glenn obtained his private pilot's license in 1993. You could find him doing touch-and-go landings with family and friends on any warm summer night at local municipal airports around the Dallas area.

Fireworks! Did we mention that Glenn loved Fireworks? Glenn had dreams and aspirations of owning his own fireworks company. In his final days, he was doing what he loved most: selling fireworks and sharing his passion for pyrotechnics. As a little guy, he used to tear out coupons from the TV Guide to afford his summer hoard of black cats and whistle chasers. The best part was watching his response to the duds and the unexpected explosions from a short fuse. He hosted countless firework shows over the years; each one was more memorable than the previous year.

In more recent years, Glenn's passion for writing took hold, and he paired up with a publisher from the UK, where he wrote numerous short stories that were published as well as over 700 published blog posts. He loved working with fellow bloggers and writers and found a family where he belonged and was loved.

Glenn regularly donated life-saving plasma and began a career at CSL Plasma in Mesquite, Texas. He made many friends in a short period and left his mark on their hearts.

Glenn's most significant accomplishments in life included his three children, Houston, Nicolette, and Jacob. He was the consummate proud papa and grandpa. This past March, he beamed at the birth of his first and only grandson, Michael. The stories we will pass down to this little guy will be legend status by the time he is old enough to light a fuse on his first firecracker.

In Glenn's lifetime, he was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, cousin, nephew, pilot, airplane fueler, composer, musician, chef, pianist, guitarist, keyboardist, phlebotomist in training, K-Mart sporting goods associate, Sonic server, Senior software developer, writer, blogger, fireworks sales and service professional, IT Manager, and a certified metal headbanger.

Glenn Jr. is survived by his son, Glenn "Houston" Reasor, III of Mesquite, Texas, daughter, Nicolette Raenelle Reasor-Fortner (Michael Fortner) and grandson, Michael Fortner, of Mesquite, Texas, son Jacob Bertran Reasor of Mesquite, Texas, his former wife Cami Reasor of Mesquite, Texas, mother, Shirley Reasor of Mesquite, Texas, sister, Angela Reasor-Garza (Carlos Garza) and niece Mia Garza of Cedar Park, Texas, nephew, Cameron Danison of Austin, Texas, nephew, Stephen Paul Freeman, II (Adella Atherton) and great-nephew Stephen Paul Freeman, III of Quinlan, Texas, niece Ashley Freeman-Yarbrough (David Yarbrough) great-nephews Aiden Paul Yarbrough and Jordan Cole Yarbrough of Quinlan, Texas, niece, Katrina Freeman of Quinlan, Texas, brother-in-law Stephen Paul Freeman of Quinlan, Texas, aunt Mary Shannon (Mack Shannon) of Bryan, Texas, uncle Jerry Reasor of Lubbock, Texas, aunt Kathleen Latimer of Arlington, Texas and many loving cousins in the Reasor, Stewart, Peel, Latimer, and Shannon families.

Glenn Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Houston Reasor, Sr., his sister, Pamela Reasor-Freeman, his paternal grandparents, Clay and Juanita Reasor, and his maternal grandparents, Harry and Faye Stewart.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in August.
