Carla Cash, age 59, passed away in the arms of her loving husband on January 15, 2022. She led a resilient life filled with family, laughter and a heart of service.

She was born in Mesquite, Texas on August 18, 1962, to Mr. & Mrs. H.L. Stanbery. Her life was a living example of genuine kindness and authentic love. She was an accomplished community activist and touched the lives of many individuals through the various organizations she committed to serving.

Her talents were many. A few of her accomplishments included: celebrating 25 years of service with Southwest Airlines, 35+ active years in the Dallas Softball Association - which involved holding positions such as President, Umpire, Metro Umpire In Charge and Hall of Fame PSSA Umpire. Carla also served on many boards and committees and served as a volleyball TASO referee for 17 years.

Fighter, generous, spirited, loving, strong, sassy, tough, faithful, Christian - these are the words she will always be remembered by, but Carla’s most treasured title was Gigi. One thing is sure, you would never participate in an activity without knowing Gigi was in the stands. She was always the loudest cheerleader in the room and there was never a dull moment when she was around.

Carla is preceded in death by her parents Horce Lee & Zona Faye Stanbery. She is survived by her husband, Sammy Burge; her children: Mathew Thompson and wife, Victoria Metz; Brandi Van Sickle and husband Kevin Van Sickle; Randi Alba and husband Pedro Alba Jr; Sam Burge and wife Ashley Burge, Amber Espinoza and husband Martin Espinoza; grandchildren: Makayla Hill, Collin & Cade De Leon, Tyler Thompson, Amara Espinoza, Emma and Chloe Burge, James and Jaxon Van Sickle; siblings: David Stanbery and wife Dawn Stanbery, Donna Stanbery; mother in law: Francis Burge; sister in law: Brenda Anderson, Linda Pryor, Michelle Hay; brother in law: Luis Burge and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas on Friday, January 21,2022 at 10AM CST. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association, an organization that was near and dear to Carla’s heart.
