William Larry Wood June 29, 1948 - January 18, 2025 William Larry Wood passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025 after a life filled with service, laughter, devotion, and integrity. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Larry was born on June 29, 1948, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Thomas James Wood Sr and Floye Marie Wood both of whose preceded him in death. After graduating from Mt Pleasant High School, Larry joined the United States Marine Corps. Almost immediately Larry distinguished himself for his extraordinary intellect and was thereafter assigned to positions which were of the upmost importance to national security.
After being honorably discharge from the Marines, Larry went on to pursue a fulfilling career in the banking industry. He rose through the ranks and retired as Vice President of Data Processing at the Federal Home Loan Bank in Las Colinas, Texas.
On March 7, 1975 Larry married the love of his life, Luanna Wood. His unwavering support and love provided for his wife, were a testament to the bond they shared. Together, Larry and Luanna built a life filled with laughter, jokes, respect, and many wonderful memories. Larry's love and devotion to Luanna were ever present as he carried out his day to day life!
Larry also touched the lives of all who knew him, as well as many who did not know him! Many times, Larry would take care of other in need without their ever even knowing! Larry would buy an entire family's Christmas, exposing his sensitive and loving nature! Larry's kind and giving spirit, determination for the truth, profound intelligence, and unwavering dedication to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as his family were just a few of his best qualities.
Larry is preceded in death by his beloved father and mother, Thomas James Wood Sr. and Floye Marie Wood, as well as two brothers, Thomas James Wood Jr, and Stephen Douglas Wood.
He leaves behind his cherished wife, Luanna Wood, a sister and brother in law Mary Jean and Billy Bert Newsome, a brother and sister in law Robert Paul and Karen Wood, as well as multiple nieces, grand nieces, and grand nephews all of whom adored him!
Funeral services will be held in his honor, on Thursday, Feb 6 at 11:00 am at the New Hope Funeral Home, located at 500 East Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, TX, 75182. Where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate his life. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.
In this time of grief, let us remember Larry for the joy, happiness and laughter he brought into our lives and the love he so freely shared. Well done good and faithful servant! We shall see you again!
