Reverend William Preston Stuart went to meet his Lord and Savior early Sunday morning on July 3, 2011, at his home in Saltillo, Texas. Brother Stuart, born April 9, 1928, is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Jean Davis Stuart and their three sons Michael, Harold and Craig Stuart; daughters-in-law Kathy, Cindy and Traci Stuart. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lecia and Mark Garner, Laura and Clete Mackey, Maryanne and Chris Miles, Kyle and Shannon Stuart, Tiffani Stuart, Tammi and Daniel Miller, and Casi Stuart; Great-grandchildren Jordan Garner, Courtney Garner, Grace Mackey, Abigail Miles, Anna Mackey, Aaron Miles, Clay Mackey and Ryleigh Miller; and Sister Dean Armstrong. Brother Stuart, originally from Point, TX, served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a teacher, dairy farmer and rancher as well. However, his calling and his highest honor in life was to evangelize the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Stuart preached and evangelized the last 60 years across much of the Southwestern United States.Rev. Stuart served as pastor of several local churches including Gross Road Baptist Church in Mesquite, First Baptist Church in Balch Springs, and Purley Baptist Church, among others. He continued his radio program in Sulphur Springs even until the last weeks of his life.He passed away peacefully after a valiant fight against Leukemia. The family will receive friends in the Chapel at New Hope Funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church.
