William Lem Speck

Speck, William Lem, born September 7, 1937 in Stamford, Texas to Elmo Albert Speck and Ida May Sovey Speck, passed away on November 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Winningham Speck, his parents, and his brothers J.O. Speck, Eugene Speck, and Bobby Speck. Though Lem was born in Stamford, he was reared in Dallas. He attended Adamson High School where he played football and met the love of his life, Joyce Winningham. After graduation, he served as an MP in the Army. Lem worked in management for The Drawing Board, Fitz and Floyd, and Multi Amp Corporation, and after retirement spent ten years assisting his wife, who was a first grade teacher at Daniel Webster Elementary School. They were married for 48 years. He was known for his generous spirit and his devotion to his wife, family, and friends. Lem is survived by his son, Derek Craig Speck and his wife Renee Clark Speck of Mansfield, and his daughter Darla Lynne Speck Meek and her husband Keith Meek of Garland, grandchildren Micah Speck, Gregory Meek, and Aubrey Meek, brothers Jimmie Speck and Lonnie Speck, sister Vivian Garner, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Inurnment will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010.
