William George (Bill) Reich, a Mesquite, Texas, resident for over fifty years, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023. Originally from Wisconsin, Bill served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He retired from Dee Brown Masonry.
Volunteerism was the passion of Bill's Life. He served as an Assistant Scout Master and as an Ambassador at the Mesquite Golf Course. In addition, Bill was a volunteer at the Mesquite Social Services Food Bank for fourteen years. In that capacity, he received the Mesquite Social Services Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000. In 2004, this award was renamed the "William Reich Award" and presented to Bill as the first recipient. Bill was also honored with the United States President's Award for Volunteerism.
Bill was a long-term member of Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, Sunnyvale, Texas.
Bill is survived by his wife, Aliene Gunn Reich; son, Stephen Reich (Vickie); daughter, Shari Torbet (Terry); grandson, Brandon Reich; and stepson and family, Kevin, Teri, Nathan, and Aaron Jones. Other survivors include brother, Jerry Reich (Cathy); and sister Bonnie Loving (Edwin), from Wisconsin, and a large extended family.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 30, at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N. Belt Line Road, at 2:00 p.m., with reception following immediately at the church. The service will be under the direction of New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
