Larry served in the U.S. Army, l953 to l956, during the Korean conflict, spending most of the time on the operation known as “Teapot” in Nevada. Larry was a Junior Engineer and draftsman; he was employed by Sperry Phoenix, of Phoenix, AZ, Pollock Paper, St. Regis Paper, and Continental Electronics in Dallas. Larry used his knowledge of engineering and his love of photography to grow Novatron of Dallas, which manufactured photographic lights, from the mid 1970’s to the early 90’s.During this time he also pursued his prominent vocation as a portrait and wedding photographer, which he began in 1964 with his wife, continuing until his death. Larry and Hulda provided photography across the DFW metroplex, and were active members of Dallas Professional Photographers (in which he served as president for 1991) as well as Texas Professional Photographers and Professional Photographers of America. He also was a Certified Professional Photographer, a degree granted by the national organization, following rigorous testing. Larry was a devoted Christian, serving as a deacon at the White Rock Church of Christ in Dallas for many years, before moving to Mesquite, where he became an active member of the Missions ministry at Mesquite Church of Christ. He also provided the service of doing portraits of all of the members for the pictorial directory throughout these years. He had a real love for music and played the clarinet, the bari-saxophone, and the guitar, both in school and as an adult- especially with his wife. He also loved the Mesquite Symphony. That was evident by his and Hulda’s support over the years. From the beginning, he produced all of the formal photographs of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra. With his church family, he recently celebrated his 80th Birthday at the Mesquite church of Christ, where 200 people attended the celebration. On that day Larry stated—“I am so blessed to have so many friends!” This coming Wednesday, April 16 at 2:00 PM at the Mesquite Church of Christ, there will be a Memorial Service to Honor and Celebrate the life of Larry Neve. Following that Memorial there will be a period of fellowship and sharing with Hulda and the children. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that you consider a donation to the Mission committee of the Mesquite Church of Christ, or The Mesquite SymphonyOrchestra Scholarship Fund in honor ofLarry Neve.
