William Neil Furrh, 81, of Mesquite, TX, passed away on October 31, 2018, peacefully at home. He was born August 23, 1937, in Dallas, TX to Oliver Enman Furrh and Winnie Clara King Furrh. He retired from Fireman’s Fund Ins Co. He met and married Jacquelyn (Jackie) Dalton in November, 1958. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Furrh, his parents Oliver and Winnie Furrh, and his brother, Kenneth Furrh. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Joyce (Greg) Justice and Julie (David) Watts; four grandchildren Jeff (Sara) Justice, Amber (Kevin) Hastcoat, Robyn Watts and Jordan Watts; 2 great grandchildren Connor Hastcoat and Elizabeth Justice, one sister, Joan (Jerry) Boudreaux, one sister-in-law, Vicki Furrh, one brother-in-law, Wayne Dalton, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Neil was a long time faithful member of the Church of Christ, serving both as a Deacon and later as an Elder. Living at Christian Care Center he served on many committees as well as offices in the Resident Association. He became a well-known and well-loved member of the Christian Care Community. He leaves behind a host of friends there. He loved reading his Bible and talking with everyone. A stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. Visitation will be Friday November 2, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at New Hope Funeral Home on Hwy 80. Funeral services will be held at the Mesquite Church of Christ on Saturday November 3 at 10:00 am with Ray Hunter and Steve Bailey officiating. Pallbearers are Kevin Dalton, Keith Furrh, Connor Hastcoat, Kevin Hastcoat, Jeff Justice and Jordan Watts. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Care Hospice. The family would like to thank all the staff and employees at Christian Care Center for their help in caring for Neil and the lasting friendships they have provided to the family.
