Fredrick Wayne Harrelson was born in Pickton, Texas on July 26, 1930, to Maurice and Azalee Harrelson. He passed away on April 5, 2020. Wayne grew up in Pickton and worked on the farm with his parents. Upon graduation from Pickton High School in 1948, he moved to Dallas for employment opportunities. He became acquainted with Mable Jennings at a boarding house where some of his Pickton friends also lived. Wayne and Mable fell in love and married on November 24, 1949. Together they raised five daughters and a grandson. Wayne loved his daughters and three grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with each of them and made sure he attended all school activities. Wayne worked at International Harvester Dallas parts depot and became very involved in working with the UAW local. He was very proud of his accomplishments to make working conditions better. He retired after 30 years and started his second career as a painter/carpenter/handyman. He loved to help other people work on their homes. He was able to spend a lot of time helping each of his daughters with work on their houses. It was a time of special bonding with Dad. Wayne was an avid bird hunter and never missed a season of hunting until late in life. He enjoyed gardening, horse racing, woodworking and barbeques. He was a great teacher to his children and grandchildren. We all looked up to him and admired his strength of character. It was a blessing to have him in our lives for so long.
