W.A. Pope, Jr. age 88, was born September 7, 1927 and was called home by his Lord and Savior, March 21, 2016 at his home in Rockwall, Texas. W. A. is preceded in death by his sweetheart, his faithful and devoted wife of 66 years, Billie Fay, or as he called her his Billie Girl.He is also preceded in death by their infant son Stephen Duane Pope.He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Snyder and husband Bruce of Terrell, his beloved grandsons, granddaughter’s in-laws and great grandchildren.Justin, Dorenda, Austin and Jude Snyder of Forney. Andrew and Marian Snyder of Arlington.Eric and Hallei Snyder of Forney. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their families.Edgar (Ted) and Evelyn Pope, Betty Sue and Don Atkins, Bobby and Mary Pope, and Nelda Carol and Eddie Kelleher. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews and Nieces and many other precious family members. W.A. is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and occupied Japan.He proudly served in both the United States Air Force and Army.While he was proud to serve active duty in both branches of service, he was most proud of his service in the United States Air Force. W. A. was born in Hawkins, Texas the eldest son of Wallace and Mamie Pope.W. A. was a printer by trade.W. A. worked for Jaggars Chiles Stovall Printing Company.He developed and supervised many important publications, including his responsibility for proofreading publications in various languages. W. A. served faithfully in church serving as Elder, Deacon, Sunday Superintendent, Bus Ministry and Benevolence, some at the same time. W.A. accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age.He was a faithful husband, father, grand-father, great grand-father, and brother and loved his family dearly. Services will be held Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m. at New Hope Funeral Home, and he will be interred at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
