Volker Helmut Schiwietz—July 19, 1960 to December 7, 2017 Volker Helmut Schiwietz was born in Coburg, Germany, on July 19, 1960 to Harald and Edith Schiwietz. His family immigrated to the United States in 1966 and moved to Dallas in 1969. Volker passed into the Lord’s presence on December 7, 2017 from complications related to leukemia. Volker graduated from Skyline High School in 1979. He attended LeTourneau University after high school and transferred to Mountain View Community College the next year, where he obtained his airframe and powerplant license. Several years later, Volker completed his college degree in business management at Amberton University. In the mid-1970s, Volker’s family began attending Reinhardt Bible Church in northeast Dallas. It was while in the youth group at Reinhardt that Volker met Michelle Anderson. They were married in 1983 and have two daughters, Ana Lucille Schiwietz and Ericka Luise Schiwietz Prather married to Keven. Volker always loved aviation and flying and was blessed to work in the aviation industry for over 30 years. He began working for KC Aviation in 1986, helping finish interiors of corporate jets and continued in that role after KC Aviation was bought by Gulfstream Aerospace. While at Gulfstream, Volker held a variety of positions with ever-increasing responsibility, completing his 31-year career as a completion and delivery executive with Gulfstream. Volker’s passion and joy was to serve and work with his customers; they and Gulfstream will miss him. Volker was preceded in death by his father, Harald Schiwietz. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Michelle Anderson Schiwietz; his incredibly precious daughters, Ana Schiwietz and Ericka Prather, and his wonderful son-in-law Keven; his 90-year-old mother, Edith Schiwietz; his loving siblings, Dagmar Schiwietz Stanton and her husband, Tom, and Jochen Schiwietz and his wife, Melia, and their daughter, Allie; his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Mary Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Jim Thames; niece, Steffany Thames Joslin and husband, Paul; niece Abby Thames Cielonko and husband, Luke; and many cousins in the US and Germany. Volker loved life to the fullest and lived it well. His relationship with Jesus Christ was vital to him and he always looked for opportunities to serve others and share his faith. He was Jesus’ hands and feet here on earth. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and he leaves a legacy that all of his family and friends will remember and follow. A celebration of life is scheduled for 6:30 pm, Tuesday at North Highlands Bible Church, 9626 Church Road, Dallas, Texas 75238.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that gifts be made in Volker’s honor to Dallas Theological Seminary, 3909 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75204.
