Virginia Lee Rea

June 24, 1928 — August 15, 2017

Virginia was born in Booneville, Ark on June 24, 1928 to CB and Loye Curry. She is survived by her son Terry Brown, daughter in law Denise Brown, and granddaughter Jordyn Brown of Heath, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Dixie Clem of Plano, Texas and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Virginia had a passion for painting, flowers, bird watching, teaching, as well as putting her toes in the sand in Florida. Terry and family would take Virginia to Florida for a week each summer for her to wet those toes. This summer her 89th birthday in June was celebrated on a Florida beach. She collected photo albums of days gone by, but most of all she LOVED her family. Virginia attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas, where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Teaching. Her first teaching job was in Havana, Arkansas. A few years later she moved to Ft Worth Texas where she taught 2nd grade. During this time Virginia attended the Ridgley Methodist Church where she met her first husband Claude Brown. Claude and Virginia were married in 1953 at the Ridgley Methodist Church. Shortly afterwards the couple moved to Arlington where Virginia joined the Arlington School District as a 2nd grade teacher. . In 1959 her only son Terry Brown was born. After Claude passed in 1977 Virginia remained in Arlington. In 1981 Virginia attended TWU in Denton where she obtained her Masters Degree. In 1992, Virginia married Jim Rea. Virginia retired after 32 total years of teaching 2nd grade. Virginia and Jim moved to the Piney Woods at Lake Toledo Bend, where they lived for several years, before moving to Florida. In 2000, Jim and Virginia moved to Garland, Texas to be close to their families. In 2002 Viriginia's only granddaughter Jordyn Brown was born. Jordyn was the light of her life. In 2014 Virginia moved to Rockwall where she lived at Brookdale until heaven gained a new angel on August 15, 2017. Virginia passed away at age 89. Virginia was the most gracious lady you’d ever meet. Her favorite phrase was always “Thank You.” If here she would sure to thank everyone for all the kind thoughts and words. Virginia was proceeded in death by her father CB Curry and mother Loye Curry of Booneville Ark. Her brothers Allen Curry of Pangburn Ark and Bub Curry of Booneville Ark. Her husbands Claude Brown and Jim Rea. Visitation will be Friday, August 25th from 6-8PM at New Hope Funeral Home 500 E. Hwy 80, Sunnyvale, TX 75182 Funeral will be Saturday, August 26th 3PM at First Baptist Church of Heath 224 Smirl Dr., Heath, TX 75032 A private burial will be held Monday, August 28th in Arlington. In lieu of flowers Virginia wholeheartedly LOVED the therapy dogs that visited her while at Brookdale.
