Vic went to meet God on Tuesday, October 14th at 4:00 AM. Victor Robert Rosenblatt was born in Brooklyn , New York on January 28, 1948, the son of Dorothy and Irving Rosenblatt, and the brother of Allen and Arthur Rosenblatt. His nickname when he was growing up was “the little professor” as he read the newspaper at 5 years of age. After graduating from Sheepshead Bay High School in 1965, he entered the State University of New York at Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English. The following seven years he worked at Harris Trust and Savings Bank Accounting Department, Chicago , Illinois .In 1978 he moved to Dallas. From 1978 to 1980 he was Assistant Director and then Director of the Dallas County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Therapeutic Nursery for Emotionally Disturbed Preschoolers in Dallas, Texas. He married Marcia Olech on May 19, 1984 and they had twin boys, Alexander Edward and Benjamin Allen who were born April 30, 1988. He obtained a Masters of Science in Human Development from University of Texas at Dallas and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. One of his on-going jokes was that he wanted his tombstone to read: “Victor Rosenblatt, BA, MS, PhD, Bippity Boppity Boo”. After his PhD he worked for many years at Terrell State Hospital where he created and operated the Forensic Unit. He later went to work for CATS, a diagnostic unit funded by Dallas County Judicial District where he was currently employed. His specialty was dual diagnosis assessments. He supervised therapists, assessors and graduate students. Wherever he worked as a supervisor he always felt that it was his job to look after “his people” and make sure that they were well taken care of.He did this job very well.He was not politically correct and he would not go along just to get along but he would always tell you the truth. In 2008 he created the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychological Services where he provided psychological assessment and treatment services to clients in nursing homes. Carl Rogers and Buckminster Fuller have both lost one of their biggest followers. He gave all he encountered unconditional positive regard. Synergetics was his book. At one point he considered building a geodesic dome for his home (it was the late seventies ok?). He was a brother-in-law to Ellen and Carol Rosenblatt and an uncle to Howie, Denise and Scott. He was a dear friend to many including Janie Keller and Marcia Olech. If you had the opportunity to know him, you know that he was one of the kindest, smartest and most generous people you would ever meet in your lifetime. He will be greatly missed and hopefully emulated by many. Memorial service will be 1:00PM - Saturday October 24, 2009 at the Family Cathedral of Praise, 790 Windbell Circle, Mesuqite, TX. 75149.
