Mesquite — Tracy Lee Beard, 51, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home in Mesquite, TX following a long battle with ALS. He leaves his wife of 27 years, Sherrie (Reville) Beard; daughters, Taylor (Beard) Borodin and Blair Beard; son in law, Misha Borodin; grandson, Hudson Borodin; parents, Ray and Lynda Beard; sister, Raylene (Beard) Myers and her husband Brian; brother, Clint Beard and wife Melissa (Dugger) Beard as well as many additional relatives and close friends. Tracy was a lifelong resident of Mesquite, TX. After graduating from Mesquite High School in 1983, he attended and played baseball at Eastfield Community College and Texas State University in San Marcos. He met his wife, Sherrie, at a baseball game and they were married in 1989 at Casa View Baptist Church. Tracy joined the Dallas Fire Department in 1989. He not only took pride in his firefighting career, but truly cherished the lifelong friendships he made during his time in service to the City of Dallas. Over the years, his expertise and reputation led him to many awards and accolades in honor of his service to Dallas Fire-Rescue. He retired in 2015 after 26 years of service. Tracy had a passion for coaching in the Texas Glory Select Girls Softball organization. He coached 15 years mentoring and positioning girls for future college softball scholarships.Hundreds of players in the Texas Glory organization played at the college level, many under Tracy’s coaching and leadership. A funeral service will be held December 15, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Sunnyvale, TX with burial at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, TX.
