MAHONEY, TOWONA DAWN, devoted wife, mother and precious friend.left us to be an angel in heaven on December 2, 2004, surrounded by friends and family, after a long, hard battle with cancer.She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Marie Pauline Gentry and Birdie Hazel Lamb. Her husband, James Richard Mahoney, survives her, and her legacy will live on through her two children, Brian Andrew Mahoney and Tristyn Jaree Mahoney.Towona is also survived by her mother and father, David and Wanda Menton of Scurry, Texas, her father and mother, Gary and Judy Gentry of Post Oak Bend, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Tammy Gentry of Seagoville, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, Wesley and Brandi Williams of Post Oak Bend, Texas, sister, Brittani Gentry, three nephews, Tyler Gentry, Carter Gentry and Brennan Williams and one niece Kylee Gentry.Additionally, a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Towona was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas on April 10, 1977.She graduated from Seagoville High School in May 1995.On April 7, 1992, she was blessed with Brian Andrew Mahoney and again on December 1. 1998, she was blessed with Tristyn Jaree Mahoney.Towona continued her education in nursing.After completing her training she began working for Mesquite Dermotologist, Dr. Rudnicki, where she became not only an employee, but also a friend.On June 24, 2000, Towona wed the love of her life, James Richard Mahoney.Towona and Richard lived in Mesquite, Texas with their children until August 2004, when they moved into their beautiful new dream home that they had built in Forney, Texas. Towona dedicated her life to God early in life, but recently re-dedicated her life to God, renewing her faith and dedication to him. Towona was a member of the Family of Cathedral of Praise.She loved God and put her faith in him and allowed him to guide her down the hard and rocky road that she had to endure.Towona loved her family and friends and loved to be surrounded by them even during periods of extreme sickness while in treatment.Both family and friends will remember Towona as a great fighter; she will never be forgotten, as each of us knows that each day she will travel with us in our hearts. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the trust of Brian and Tristyn Mahoney at any American National Bank location or by mail to 2700 Washington, Kaufman, Texas 75142.
