Tommy Lee Smith Tommy Lee Smith, 95, born on June 17, 1922, in Olustee, Oklahoma, went to her new Heavenly home on Saturday, January 20, 2018.She was surrounded by her loving family at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab in Forney, TX.She was preceded in death by her parents, W.M. and Irene Patton; sister, Voneta Kent and husband, William Kent; brothers, M.L. Patton and wife, Opal; C.W. Patton and wife, Ruby.She is survived by daughter, Carla Goldsmith and husband, Larry, of Forney, TX; son, Monty Smith of Magnolia, TX; daughter, Kim Banister and husband, Gary, of Flower Mound, TX; daughter, Melody Brewer of Newnan, GA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and longtime friends. Tommy graduated from Duke High School in Duke, OK, and went on to attend Altus Junior College and earned her Associate of Arts degree.She was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation in Altus before having her children.After which time, she was a dedicated mother of four providing for their every need.She later returned to work and was employed by the U.S. Civil Engineering SqdatAltus Air Force Base.She got much satisfaction out of the time worked there.She later moved to Garland, TX, and worked for the I.R.S. Regional Office in Dallas from which she retired in 1990.Because she enjoyed working and being around people, she continued to work part-time locally for years. Tommy’s life was centered around her Lord and Savior, and she was a member of the Forney Church of Christ.Her hobbies were gardening, working crossword puzzles and doing projects around her home.Her delicious meals and homemade pies were loved by all.Being a nature lover, she spent time on her deck and front porch overlooking her beautiful yard and trees.She once received the “Yard of the Month” award and proudly displayed the sign in her yard.Her very favorite pastime was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.She was adored by her family and the many, many hours spent making memories will be cherished forever.We are blessed to have had her for so many years, and her heart and neverending love will remain with us always. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at New Hope with Interment immediately following there.
