Thomas Shankle precious husband, father, and grandfather passed into his Father's hands on October 3, 2002. He was born October 25, 1911. Thomas is a former native of Vernon Parish, Louisianna. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Marion Shankle, and Frances Self Shankle, three brothers Jim Shankle, Curtis Shankle, Alex Shankle, and three sisters, Artie Morrison, Nora Jeane, and Lola Jeane. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esma Jane Thorne, many neices, nephews, and friends. Mr. Shankle and family moved to Beaumont, Texas, in 1942. He worked at the Pennsylvania Shipyard where he helped to build C-1 ships as a welder. Tom retired from Mobil Oil after working for Mobil 25 years. After retirement Mr. and Mrs. Shankle moved to Toledo Bend Village, where they lived for 18 years enjoying the beautiful lake, fishing, and their worship of God at the Toledo Bend Mission. Due to Tom's illness, they moved to Sunnyvale, Texas to be near their children. Tom was a gifted, gentle man, but his true calling, passion and priority was always his beloved wife and children. His gentle manner and generous heart will be greatly missed by those who love him so much. His presence will be with us forever and his memory will be passed on with love. We love you Tom, Dad, and Papa. Funeral Services will be Saturday morning at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, La. Interment to be at Castor Cemetery in Vernon Parish.Officiating the service will be Rev. T.J.Crosby.
