Thomas P. Johnny was promoted to glory on June 15, 2021. He was born on October 15, 1940, to Yohannan and Aleyamma Pappy, at Puthenkuttiyil House, Cherianadu, Kerala, India. At the age of 14, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was filled with the Holy Spirit and joined with Christ through the believer’s baptism in water. These decisions at an early age marked his faith which he maintained from then onward.
In 1972, Thomas immigrated to the United States and over the course of time, worked in several different positions, including at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations. In 1974, he married Annie, daughter of C.K. Varughese and Mariamma (Ammini) of Amprayil, Manaliparampil, Thalavady, Kerala, India, and they lived shortly in New York where their daughter, Sheryl, was born. He soon moved the family to St. Paul, Minnesota, and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas, where their son, Samuel, was born. Thomas joined Abbott Laboratories in 1984 and was employed there until his retirement in 2011. He provided for his family’s material and spiritual needs and established a home of peace and joy and faith.
For the past several decades, Thomas has been a member of Maranatha Full Gospel Church, and he was faithful in whatever capacity the church needed him to serve. As a committee member, and as the treasurer for the MFGC World Missions and for many years as an elder, he supported this church to the best of his abilities.
Thomas was a principled man with a quiet and patient nature, and he is loved and respected by many. He is preceded in death by sisters Mary and Ammini and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annie, daughter Sheryl (Jason), son Samuel (Mishal), brother and sisters, Pastor P. Baby (Annamma), Annamma (Pastor M.M. Varghese), Gracy (Issac K.O.), and granddaughters Elizabeth and Hannah. He will be missed, and his life on earth will be fondly remembered by all his extended family and friends, until we meet him again in eternity.
