Ted Nowell

October 13, 1955 — March 26, 2024

Ted Nowell, a beloved husband, father and former baseball coach, passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2024 at the age of 68.

He dedicated his life to the sport he loved, leaving behind a legacy of passion, leadership, and sportsmanship. Ted discovered his love for baseball at a young age. He excelled as a player, demonstrating skill and dedication on the field. However, it was as a coach where he truly made his mark.

Ted mentored countless young athletes. His coaching style was characterized by patience, encouragement, and a deep understanding of the game and underlying passion that was not matched. Under his guidance, many of his players went on to achieve success both on and off the field.

Beyond wins and losses, Ted instilled values of teamwork, perseverance, and respect in his players. He was not only a coach but also a mentor and role model to those he coached on and off the field. Ted was known for driving the drag in Mesquite to make sure his players were doing right in the community and not making any trouble at night while at the helm at Poteet High School!

In addition to his contributions on the field, Ted was known for his generous spirit and unwavering support of his community. Ted leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former players, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched.
