Tae Yul Choi

September 28, 1931 — July 6, 2011

Mark Choi, born to a farmer was born in South Korea in 1931. He had four sisters and one brother. He served during the Korean War from 1950-1953. After the War, he went back home and resumed his life. In 1964 he married Jungsoon and has two sons Jack and John. They were married 47 years. In 1973, he took his family and immigrated to the United States for a better life him and his family, made their new home right here in Garland, TX. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and building things. Mark had various jobs when he first arrived. He did not know how to read or write English and spoke almost no English. After awhile he was offered a job. He was given an opportunity to become a roofer. He worked from sun up to sun down in blazing Texas heat. Today, if you drive around Plano and look at some of the older homes, he probably roofed most of them. In 1977, he bought his first home in Allen, TX. He first became a grand-pa in 1999 to Daniel Choi, six months later to Jaelyn Choi. Altogether he has five grandchildren: Kadyn, Timothy and Ethan. Mark was a simple family man. He did the best he could for what life has given him. And most of all, he has given his life over to Jesus. He will be missed. May God Bless him. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 " 11:30am at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sunnyvale, TX.
