Steven Lee Murphy of Kaufman, Texas passed away on April 28, 2016 at the age of 74 in Shreveport, LA. Steve Murphy was born August 15, 1941 in Washington D.C. to Samuel M. Murphy and Beatrice (Snyder) Murphy.He was raised in Maryland.He served in the United States Army from 1962-1966 and then in the Army Reserves. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1968. He met the love of his life Carol Ann Reid in 1963.They were married March 6, 1965.They had two daughters, Coleen Lee and Melissa Ann.He moved his family to Irving, Texas in 1974, where he became a truck driver for North American Van Lines.In 1980, Steve and his brother John opened their own business: Murphy Brothers Home Improvement. Steve and Carol bought a home and moved to Kaufman, Texas in 1986.He began his career with Schepps Dairy as a truck driver in 1988 and retired in 2012 after 24 years of service. He spent the next two years traveling the United States with his wife Carol.They were married for 49 amazing years.After her death in June of 2014, he continued to travel to Arizona, Mexico, Virginia and Maryland to see his friends and family even though he missed his beloved wife so much. Steve was an energetic talker, a great jokester, and a wonderful storyteller.He never met a stranger. He enjoyed getting to know people and because of that, he had so many friends.Steve was also one of the biggest Washington Redskins fans in Texas.He loved watching football, golf, hockey and enjoyed the NASCAR races with his best friend Bill Wingo of 50+ years. Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Murphy; father, Samuel Murphy; mother, Beatrice Mae Murphy Meyers; Brothers, Samuel Murphy and Robert Murphy and son-in- law, Mark Bedair Sr. He is survived by daughters,Coleen Bedair of Terrell,TX and Melissa McCree & her husband Richard of Arlington,TX; Brothers, James Murphy & wife Betty of Waldorf, MD, John Murphy & wife Darlene of Kemp, TX; Sisters-in-laws, Evelyn Murphy of Granbury, TX and Kimberly Reid of Lewisetta, VA; Grandchildren: Shiloh Wilson, Megan McCree, Steven Bedair, Kelsey Bedair, Lauren McCree; step-grandchildren: Melonie Gregory and Mark Bedair Jr.One great grandchild: Cayden Robb.Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
