September 7, 1945 — December 18, 2015

Steven “Steve” David Jett, age 70, passed away at his home in Seagoville on Friday, December 18, 2015. He entered the world on September 7, 1945 at the Florence Nightingale Maternity Hospital in Dallas, TX to parents W.R. Son Jett, Jr. and Nan Burt Jett Mason. He attended Seagoville High School before serving in the military. Steve was a sharpshooter for the 4th Infantry Division from 1965-1967. A proud veteran, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Steve married Betty Rose on March 8, 1968 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Seagoville, TX. Together they had four children and lived a beautiful life on Shady Lane. Steve always worked hard and did what was necessary to provide for his family; while he held various jobs throughout his lifetime, he retired from Steel Boss in 2005. Steve enjoyed fishing in his younger days, riding his Harley, scratching lottery tickets, collecting coins, and enjoying coffee every morning with friends at Denny’s. He also enjoyed monthly "old mans" breakfasts with high school friends. Steve Jett is preceded in death by his parents, W.R. Son Jett, Jr. and Nan Burt Jett Mason, his brother-in-law Billy Dickens, father-in-law Windell Rose, and mother-in-law Lois Rose. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ann Jett, of Seagoville, TX. He is also survived by his children, daughter Christa Strait, and husband Robert Strait, of Forney, TX; daughter Stephanie Wright, and husband Curtis Wright, of Seagoville, TX; son Steven Jett of Seagoville, TX; and daughter Ryan Jett, and husband Mike Wilson, of Kaufman, TX; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by sister, Judy Dickens, of Wills Point, TX, and brother Tommy Jett, and wife Sharon Jett, of Terrell, TX. Steve had many names throughout his lifetime: son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, soldier, and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
