Steve Ray Carlton

Steve R. Carlton was born August 6, 1952, in Monahans, Texas. He was the only child of Willis Paul Carlton and Gail Barber Carlton. Steve went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2012, after a sudden illness. Steve enjoyed a joyful home with his wife, Sandy Gordon Carlton, and seven daughters, Rebecca, Lydia, Rachel, Deborah, Susanna, Joanna and Julia, ranging in age from 10 to 26. Steve was valedictorian of Leesville (La.) High School in 1970. His higher education included a BS in Math from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, an MS in Math from Texas A&M, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Florida. He worked as a financial consultant in banking with Fiserv Corp., JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America. Steve was a loving Christian father and a member of Saturn Road Church of Christ. He was very active in Christian activities and Bible studies. Steve also was a member of the Christian Family Home Educators Association of Dallas, served on the board as president, and was actively involved with his daughters home schooling. He also enjoyed freshwater fishing and gardening. Steve was a Second Lieutenant in the Artillery Corps, U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., from which he was honorably discharged. He is survived by his mother, Gail; his wife, Sandy; and their seven daughters. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Highway 80, in Sunnyvale. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Saturn Road Church of Christ, 3030 Saturn Road, Garland. There will be a family-only interment at DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arms of Hope, (armsofhope.org).
