"Sosamma(Thankamma)Thomas, fondly known as Ammachi to most people, was born on May 15, 1924 to Pothan & Achiyamma Mathai in Kangazha, India. She was the 6th of 7 children (6 daughters and 1 son). At the age of 17, she married P. M. Thomas and settled in Punnaveli, India. They had 2 children, Molly and Sunnymon. After Molly moved to the United States, Sunnymon was diagnosed with cancer and passed away at only 18 years of age.In 2002, her beloved husband passed away. In spite of the hardships she encountered,Ammachi lived a full life.At home, she spent much of her waking hours with the animals outside on her land and also ended up with the best garden in town. Most of her life outside of home had to do with her faith. When she was in her 20's,Ammachi stepped out (alone in her faith) and was baptized. She was a pillar of her church and remained an active member. She participated in PYPA and its memory verse competition well into her90s (no one had a chance against her). Her mind was always sharp and her heart was constantly generous. She would often withhold buying things for herself so she didn’t have to hold back in giving to others. She sacrificially helped anyone in need. She thought her trip to the United States in 1989 would be her last time there, butGod had other plans. She moved from India to Texas in October, 2015, and lived with her daughter and son-in-law.She enjoyed her time reading, watching sermons in her native tongue (Malayalam), helping in the kitchen, and being with her family. On August 19, 2016, the Lord decided that Ammachi’s time on earth was at an end, and it was time to begin her time in heaven. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and K.I. Thomas, along with their daughters and families: Anu & Lance Abraham,Binu & Sunil Samuel and their children Joshua and Caleb. Heaven's gain. Our loss.A life well lived."
