Shirley Lubben-Lofvendahl

September 6, 1945 — January 23, 2024

Shirley Ann (Lurken) Lubben-Lofvendahl was born on September 6, 1945 to William Lurken and Magdalene (Granowski) Lurken in Owatonna Minnesota. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2024 at her daughter, Elicia's home in Garland, Texas at the age of 78.

She was united in marriage to Eldar Krueger on June 17, 1965. Through this union twin daughters, Elizabeth and Elicia, were born. Also during this time, Shirley traveled throughout the United States and lived in Okinawa, Japan. Shirley and Eldar would later divorce in 1974.

In August of 1974, she married Frank Lubben-Lofvendahl and the couple moved to Texas in 1982. There she worked for Kroger for 20 years. Frank and Shirley bought a home and land in Terrell in 1984 where they resided until recently when Shirley moved in with her daughter due to health issues.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Frank Lubben-Lofvendahl; her daughter, Elicia Villa and husband John of Garland; her brothers, William Lurken and wife Linda of South Dakota, and Gary Lurken and wife Monica of South Dakota; her sister, Sally Alkire of Florida; her grandchildren, William Brown, Kyle Brown, Thomas Kimble and wife Alexis, Micah Kimble and wife Abby, and Joshua Kimble; and great-grandchildren, Esther Kimble, Carolyn Kimble and Pricilla Kimble (arriving in March) as well as a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, William Lurken; her mother, Magdalene (Lurken) Betsinger; her daughter, Elizabeth Kimble and husband TJ.

Shirley lived a life of service. Her faith was very important to her. She attended the Lutheran church in Minnesota and Texas. She enjoyed volunteering at Water of Life Lutheran Church in Forney, Texas as a greeter, usher, counter, alter guild, and assisting with the food pantry. She also volunteered in Terrell at a food pantry every Tuesday. She was a bright light to everyone she met having a warm smile and great hugs. In the evenings, she enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and hold tight to the memories she made throughout her lifetime.
