She attended Forrest Avenue High School where she also excelled as a featured baton twirling majorette. She continued her close relationship with her children while being a nursing home administrator and doing medical records thru the years. Grandchildren Tiffany and Matt Dixon, Sam and Laura Beth Anderson, and Pamela and Phil Walters. Due to illness and a need to be closer to her children she ended her final fours years living in the wonderful nurturing walls of Cambridge Court Assisted Living, where she had excellent care and made wonderful loving friends. Shirley was always making us laugh even in her last days. It was said many times....”She’s a HOOT” She would want to thank her friends for always being there for her, her caregivers for sustaining her and all the rest of us for loving her. She would especially want to tell Joy Pepper and her staff to keep up the good work! She would want more than anything to tell her best friend of 70+ years.....I love you Etta! Because of the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in during the Coronavirus there will only be a graveside service at the North Hopkins Cemetery, Highway 19 north of Highway 71, Birthright, Texas on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 3:00 pm.
