Sherry Lynne Macauley, 79, passed away on November 6, 2022, at her home in Edgewood, Tx. She was born on April 28, 1943, in Dallas, TX, to Stroud Keith and Mary Frances Willis. She graduated from Justin F Kimble High School in 1961. She worked 40+ years of her life in the insurance business at Autofleet in Mesquite, was a Sr Vice President at RISC in Dallas, and AMWINS in Dallas as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. She was involved with Insurance Women's of America for many years. She retired from working in December 2015.
In her free time, she loved being with family whether they were all gathered at her house, in the pool or traveling somewhere, preferably to a beach. She coached elementary basketball in Mesquite with her daughters Tricia and Kelli for 15+ years. She was also very involved in the beauty pageant scene. She started in 1985 with her daughter Kelli. She then went on to have several grandchildren and great grandchildren involved in pageants. Then it was her turn, she got involved as a contestant in the Senior Miss Texas Classics pageant. She was able to come out of her shell, meet so many great friends, and then shine as the Queen we all knew her as.
Sherry was best known as Rapping Granny to all her pageant friends. Sherry is survived by her children Alvie Paul Strickland Jr., Diana Hansen, Erin Stevens, Tricia Cox, Kelli Watts, and husband Anthony Watts. Grandchildren- Heath and Mylie Strickland, Dakota Strickland, Dustin and Amber Hearn, Eric and Ceres Hansen, Heather and Elliott Broders, Ashley and Cody Glover, Ryan and Nicholas Blohm, Theresa and Jonathan Goodson, Tyler Stevens, Rodney Doggett and Carly Mininsohn, Zachary Cox and Natalie Harrington, Cody Cox, Jake Watson, Jaycee Watson and Aaron Rideaux, Ashley and Patrick Albertson, and Cody Watts. Great grandchildren- James Strickland, Anastasia Strickland, Michelle Manasco-Hearn, Luke Hearn, Evan Neal, Haylee Broders, Avery Glover, Hayden Holland, Tearany Blohm, Maci Jenkins, Davis Jenkins, Greyson Goodson, Gavin Goodson, Jaxson Doggett, Blake Cox, Braden Albertson, Caden Albertson, Caylin Albertson, Jaxon Albertson, and Jeremiah Dakota Rideaux.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Stroud Keith, Mary Francis Willis, John E Willis Jr., and Elizabeth O. Willis, brothers - Patrick Willis, John E Willis III, Paul Willis, sister Jackee Nicholson, and her son in law Ross Hansen. The service for Sherry Macauley will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas Visitation: Saturday, November 12, at 12:30 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made in Sherry's name to Sr Miss Texas Classic Pageant or your local scholarship pageant program.
