Sherman Beard

Sherman "Dick" Beard, 74, of Dallas, passed away August 17, 2005 in Rockwall. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 19, 2005 at 10 A.M. at the New Hope Funeral Home Chapel with Lance Ward officiating. Mr. Beard was born in Baxter County, Arkansas on July 8, 1931 to Benjamin Hamilton Beard and Bertha Nugent. He married Betty Michel. He worked as a Postal Worker for the U.S. Postal Service. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was the Valedictorian of his class in 1950 when he graduated from Woodlawn High School. He enjoyed gardening, golf, fishing and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Betty, a son, Michel and wife Beth, daughter, Teresa Beard, and grandchildren, Katy, Nathan and Tanner Beard. He is preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Brother Peg Beard. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at New Hope Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mesquite City Cemetery following the service.
