Sammy Burge

July 9, 1958 — December 1, 2024

Sammy Ray Burge, 66, passed away at home on December 1, 2024. He touched countless hearts and lead indelible mark on everyone blessed to know him.

Born July 9, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, to Frances and Dewy Burge, Sammy was a devoted father, and passionate softball enthusiast, and a man whose love for his family ran very deep. On the field, he was more than just a player or umpire-he was a coach, a mentor, and a steadfast cheerleader for his children and grandchildren. For Sammy, softball was more than a pastime; softball was a way of life.

It was the way he met the love of his life, built lifelong friendships, and created countless cherished

memories.

But Sammys greatest role was not on the softball field. It was at home being a husband to his wife Carla, a dad to his five children, and "papa to his seven grandkids.

A few other accomplishments Sammy achieved during his lifetime was retiring from the City of Dallas after 30 years and 25+ active years with the Dallas Softball Association.

Sammys journey has taken him home to Heaven, where he now celebrates the holidays with his beautiful wife - Carla Cash, his father - Dewy Burge, and his brother James Burge. We can imagine them together, cheering each other, and basking in the light of eternal peace.

He is survived by his mother - Frances Burge, son- Sam Burge and wife Ashley; daughter- Amber

Espinoza and husband, Martin; daughter - Brandi Vansickle and husband, Kevin; daughter - Randi Alba

and husband, Pedro; son- Mathew Thompson; Grandkids- Makayla, Cade, Collin, Chloe, Emma, Amara

and Marceline; Sisters - Machelle Hay, Linda Pryor, Brenda Anderson; brother- Louis Burge and many

nieces, nephews friends and family.
