The Celebration of Life service for Russell Anderson will be Sunday, October 3, 2021 at: Winfrey Point White Rock Lake 950 E. Lawther Dr. Dallas, Texas Guests are asked to arrive by 4:00. There will be a portion of the service where people can share thoughts, memories and stories of Russ. Guests are welcome to share during this time. Dress is casual Masks will be required indoors. There will be a reception period with refreshments. Masks are not required while eating and drinking. There is also a large outdoor patio for guests to enjoy where masks are optional. All guests are invited to stay after the service to enjoy sunset across the lake and make a toast to Russ. Sunset is scheduled for approximately 6:15. Contact Kathy at 214-336-6251 with any questions. Russ was born March 20, 1956 in Eugene, Oregon. He passed away on May 10, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Kathy Anderson, son Casey Ward and his wife Myra, son Rusty Anderson and his wife Heather, and son Jon Anderson and his wife Sarah.His sister Brenda Anderson, brother Rick Anderson and his wife Linda and sister Cheryl Anderson-Major. He has eight grandchildren, Corbin, Olivia, Samuel, Jennie, Alexa, Nevaeh, Ella and Nolan, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Carole Major, stepfather JT Major and brother David Anderson. Russ was born in Eugene, Oregon and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona when he was two.He excelled in academics and sports throughout his primary education years.He was excited to attend The University of Arizona where he majored in Accounting, studied computer science and joined the Delta Chi Fraternity. Russ finished his degree at Northern Arizona University, graduating in 1980 with a BS in Accounting.He was recruited by EDS and moved to Texas to start his professional career in computer engineering.He held several positions in information technology at Rockwell International, Peer Services, Just Technical Associates and Bank of America.He wrapped up that career path at Ardent Technologies in Australia.After returning from Australia, Russ owned a small truck accessory business, Truck Accessory Warehouse, in Garland, Texas.After that his career focused on the use of his Accounting Degree.He became the staff accountant for the non-profit Bridge Breast Network and ended his career retiring from GEO-Systems in 2019. Russ met Kathy in 1984 when they both worked for Peer Services.They had many common interests including cycling, outdoor activities and spending time with their sons. They loved to go on long cycling trips on their tandem putting in hundreds of miles a year. They married in 1991 and had a beautiful life together. Russ had a passion for music.He was famous for creating playlists for any occasion.His musical pursuits started in elementary school where he learned to play trombone.As he progressed in school, he was in the Flagstaff High School marching band.He had lots of stories about band trips. He was also one of four members of a garage band called 75% Soul. He continued with guitar, added keyboard and passed on his love of music to his grandchildren.His favorite place at home was the Guitar Den, which he designed. He always enjoyed inspiring others by sharing his words of wisdom.His goal was to help others live their best life.He used his own experience to guide others through adversity and achieve their goals.His favorite book to share was Millionaire Teacher.He presented many copies to friends and family to show how easy it could be to establish wealth. Russ will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.His celebration of life will be planned after the COVID-19 restrictions are more widely lifted.
