Brown (Nicholson), Ruby Lucille..Born October 24, 1933 in Dallas Texas to Joseph Ray Nicholson and Ruby Crystal Higgins-Nicholson was called to Heaven on December 30, 2010. Proceeded in Death by her Husband Howard Eugene Brown and her Brother Wayne Nicholson. Survived by her Son Eric Ray Brown, Daughter Elizabeth Anne Brown-Sommer, Son-in-Law Scott Allan Sommer and Granddaughter Scarlett Crystal Sommer. Her Brother Jack Keith and Sister-in-law Sammie Keith, Her Sister Helen Berryman and Brother-in-Law Willard Berryman. Her Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and their Families. Ruby Lucille Nicholson-Brown was a wonderful mother who was greatly loved by all her family and friends. She was a strong intelligent fun loving independent woman that only thought of others before herself and loved all her children, brothers and sisters and their wives and husbands who were like brothers and sisters to her , cousins, nieces and nephews and their families very much. She loved all of her friends over the years. She had many fond memories of spending time with everyone. She was a stay at home mom from 1962 until 1973 because she and her husband wanted to spend time with her children raising them. She was a caring mother that devoted all her time to her family. She went back to work in 1973 to become a school office bookkeeper at North Dallas High School. She went back because she enjoyed working and she could be back in time to be with her children after school. When her husband died in 1977 of a massive heart attack at the age of 51, she was a strong courageous woman that sacrificed everything to take care of her children at the age of 12 and 15. In 1980 She went back to college taking college courses at night when her daughter started college and her son was in high school. She had always wanted to be a librarian. Her daughter was inspired by her and became a School Librarian. She was a wonderful mother that read to her children. It was some of their fondest memories. She had to start over her college work from Kilgore College because most of it was business courses. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Social Studies and History Teaching Certificate and Masters Degree in Library Science from East Texas State University now called Texas A&M at Commerce. She was a Social Studies Teacher at Cary Middle School and Skyline High School before becoming an Elementary School Librarian at James W. Fannin Elementary School working with Pre-K thru 3rd grade children for the Dallas Independent School District. In May 2004 Ruby Lucille Nicholson was honored during her retirement from her elementary school and from the Dallas Independent School District Library Department for all of her years of service for her love, caring and commitment to the children. She loved the children. The children loved her like a mother. She made a difference in their lives and she loved her career as a School Librarian. She loved reading to them. She loved everyone she touched and they loved her.
