RONALD LESLIE SMITH (RONNIE)
JUNE 5, 1942-JUNE 15, 2020
Ronnie Smith, father of four, son and brother passed away on June 15th after an eight month struggle with pancreatic cancer. He never complained and was positive and courageous throughout.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents Jimmie E. and Eula Mae Smith, his two sons Brian and Kelly Smith and his sisters, Laverne Sewell and Gwen Watts. He is survived by his daughters Gina Smith and Carrie Ross-Hobbs, his brother James E. "Buzzy" Smith, Grand-children Chris Ross, Brian Smith Jr, Steven Smith, Savana Lemmons and Tayler M. Hobbs (in birth order) and eight great-grandchildren.
Our Dad, Ronnie, was a Glazier by trade, a lover of fishing and a talented golfer. Ronnie was a member of Cathedral of Praise Church in Mesquite, Texas, and an almost fifteen year member of Woodbridge Golf Course in Wylie, Texas where he also spent time as a Marshall there. Our Dad said that is where he met his dearest and closest friends which he said were always there for him in every way.
Carrie and Gina would like to thank our Cousins Pastor Harry Sewell (who will preside over the Funeral), Sheree Stacy, and Suzanne Mayo; and our Mom Janice Collins for their loving and wise guidance through this very difficult time. Specifically we would like to thank Sheree Stacy for her help staying and caring for our Dad at the Hospital those last few days of his life; we are very grateful for her kindness. Also I know our Dad would be proud of his grand-daughter Tayler who took time away from College to work tirelessly helping plan her grand-father's Funeral.
Our Dad's Funeral is just as he wanted; a closed casket surrounded by family and close friends. We would like those attending the Funeral on Friday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Praise in Mesquite, Tx. to know that everything is how our Dad planned including all the music.
Now our Dad is attending a great Family Reunion in Heaven, his forever home and is free from pain and suffering, and we will miss him forever.
