Roger Dale Caples was born on July 18, 1964 and passed away on May 10, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father, Shelby D. Caples. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lauri Caples, daughters Natalie and Madison Caples, mother Betty Elley Caples, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Roger was born to Shelby and Betty Caples in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Duncanville, Texas. He graduated from Duncanville High School in 1983. He attended Ranger Junior College on a pole-vaulting scholarship and then earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baptist Christian College. He married Lauri Caples on March 31, 1990. Roger was hired as an agent for Farmers Insurance shortly after in September of 1990 and acquired many customers who became lifelong friends. In 1992, Roger and Lauri had their first daughter, Natalie. Their second daughter, Madison, was born in 1996. Roger and Lauri then moved to Forney in 1998. Roger was a wonderful dad and spoke often of his pride in his daughters accomplishments. He was present at school functions, games, performances and loved being involved in the girls activities. Roger loved to hunt, fish, and camp. He was a lifelong Texas Rangers fan and almost never missed a game. He had a big heart and was always willing to help a friend. He was kind and compassionate to all who knew him, but most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and son. Roger will be missed and always remembered for the great man that he was. Visitation is Thursday from 5-7 at New Hope Funeral Home and the service is at 1:00 on Friday at First Baptist Church of Forney.
