Rodger Lee Hulslander was born to Ray D. and Deta Louise Hulslander on March 28, 1931 in Akron, Ohio. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after coming home from a short stay in the hospital due to pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Rodger was 80 years young! Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Deta Hulslander; parents-in-law, Ike and Helen Walther; brothers-in-law, Max Mosier, Mick Walther, Stan McKrill, Frank Walther; sister-in-law, Sally Walther and niece, Del Lea OConnor Martin. Rodger is survived by the love of his life for 51 years, Erma Jean Hulslander. He is also survived by: His children- Arleen and husband Meade Buffington, Rick and wife Cheryl Hulslander; Sheri and husband Randy Hamilton. Grandchildren- Candace and Mark E. Tharp II, Jared Hamilton, Chyna Hamilton, Taryn Hulslander, Bryan Minturn, Megan and Mike Collingwood, Macy Hulslander, Jess Hulslander, Destanie Stroup, Jason Parson and Chris Parson. Great Grandchildren- Lauren Ann Tharp, Aidric DeLeon and Roman Stroup. Sisters/Brother In Law- Ethel and Lonnie Haughey, Rose Walther and Fran Mosier. Nieces and Nephews- Dennis and Sue McKrill, Debbie and Chris Reynolds, Kim and Jim Berry, Kathy and Max Wienhoft, Marti and Kevin Kauffman, Ike and Janelle Walther, Heather Walther, Richard Walther and David Walther. Rodger was an only child, but that all changed when he married Erma, who was 1 of 5 children! He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, church member and servant to our Lord Jesus Christ. Rodgers passion for fast cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles developed into a unique ministry opportunity. He was a founding member of Crossroad Riders of Mesquite Texas and a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He was proud to wear his colors and ride with his brothers and sisters to spread the gospel every chance he could. His favorite hobbies were: collecting Heisey elegant glass, restoring antique clocks, restoring antique Bibles and reading/studying the Bible. He was a member of Heisey Collectors of America and founding member of Heisey Collectors of Texas. He served many terms as President and Vice-President for HCT. Rodger was educated at Fenn College, University of Akron and Indiana University before choosing an engineering career path. He served as a Design Engineer, Tooling Engineer and Plastics Engineer before retiring at the age of 64. His sweet spirit, compassion and love for the Lord will forever be missed by those of us left behind. Rodger knew where he would spend eternity and was excited to see his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Services will be held 2:00pm Friday, August 19, 2011 at Berean Baptist Church at 302 N. Town East Blvd, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182. Rodgers family will receive friends 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, August 18th at Berean Baptist Church. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, (Barnes Bridge Rd. & Belt Line Rd.) Sunnyvale Texas. Rodger would love for you to wear your colors and ride in the procession! In lieu of flowers, Rodger requested contributions be made to either: Christian Motorcyclists Association, Berean Baptist Church or Heisey Collectors of America. Contribution envelopes will be available at the viewing and service.
