Funeral Service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Friday March 2, 2018 at 2pm with Interment to follow.Robert was born on September 11, 1952 in Monterey, Mexico and spent his childhood in San Antonio Texas.Robert graduated from Antonian Catholic College Preparatory School for Boys and continued his education at SMU where he received his degree in Political Science.During the Watergate Scandal, Robert was an intern for Henry B. Gonzalez in Washington D.C. and that was the start of his long love for politics and activism.As a young man Robert fought hard for the rights of all migrant workers and later went on to meet Ceasar Chavez.In his later years Robert became very involved with local, state and national levels of the Democratic Party; his most recent position as a poll judge for the Kaufman County Democrats.Robert is preceded in death by his Grandmother Maria Moreno, Father Robert Lara and Daughter Heather Ann Arredondo.Robert is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 7 years, Beckye Lara his children Amber Lara McClintic and husband David, Robert Lara III, Elizabeth Lara stepsons Christoper Everett and Shane Everett.Grandchildren Isaiah Washington and Aiden Rudolph.Siblings Blanca and Quentin Fogleman, Gilbert and Amanda Lara, Albert and Joyce Lara, Brenda and Art Fuentes.The family would like thank the staff at Texas Oncology, Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas and Amity Hospice for their amazing care and love during this difficult time.
