Robert Louis Banks, age 72, died April 4, 2014, in Dallas. He was a graduate of Brewer High School in White Settlement and the University of North Texas. He retired from Sears with 29 years of service, worked ten years for various vendors in Home Depot stores, and was a part-time events employee at the Mesquite Rodeo Arena. He was a member of Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite and a volunteer with the Texas Baptist Men. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda, and their three children, Michael, Jason, and Beth, as well as their spouses, Barbara, Daphanie, and Barry, and eight grandchildren, Ashley Banks, Tyler Banks, Megan Banks, Melanie Banks, Bailey Shiver, Steven Shiver, Liz Bloom, and Evan Bloom. He is also survived by siblings Linda Gooding, Jeannette Arnold, Freddie Banks, Elmer Banks, William Ray Banks, and Jimmy Banks. A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Hwy. 80, Sunnyvale. If desired, memorials may be made to Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief fund.
