Gene Ewers

Rinnie (Gene) Ewers passed away on May 29, 2023 at Discovery Village after being surrounded by family for many days. He was 82 years old.

Gene was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. When he was going to be in the tenth grade, his father and mother sent him to school in Waxahachie, Texas. He went to school for two years. He then went to Jack Coe's school and graduated from his school in Dallas. He went to college at the Assemblies of God School in Waxahachie.

Growing up he learned how to work on cars, since his dad had a car dealership in Wisconsin. The Chevrolet company in Dallas told him they wanted to send him to body school and pay for everything and also his salary. He went and became one of the best bodyman in the Dallas area. Dealerships all over Dallas would hire him at any time. He always had a good work ethic. It was work, work, work, even when you are hungry just work.

After many years he wanted to do something different. So, he went into the catering business and was in the business for 30 years. After retiring he remodeled houses for 20 years. For years he has helped with mission's work.

One of his many things he always did was take his vitamins every day, and if someone aske him if he was hurting, he would always say no. He said God gave him strength to carry on.  When eating out, he also gave $2.00 bills to everyone who did not order sodas.  Everyone always loved getting those $2.00 bills.

He met the love of his life at school in Texas and that was the end of him moving back to Wisconsin. Gene and Angeline married and were together for 62 years.

He will be missed by his Wife and Children, daughter, Teresa Wilkerson, and son, Kevin; his Grandchildren, Alyssa Nelson, and Ryan Wilkerson; his Great-Grandchildren, Adalyn, and Chloe; other family members, Elaine, Ken, David, Rebecca, Aaron, Tiffany, Justin, Lauren, Daniel, Melba, Greg; and other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas on Tuesday, June 6th at 2:00 PM, with graveside service following at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
