On a cold winter day in Hackensack, New Jersey John Pilger and Mary Blake-Pilger were comforted with the warmth of a newly born son to the family with the given name of Richard Pilger. Richard and his family survived through the post depression conditions within the United States and struggled to make ends meet. They were a family, like most of that ERA, which did whatever they had to do to survive the hard economic times. In 1955, Richard married the love of his life Valdimar Schumski. They were a young couple who were committed to raising a family and in 1959 they gave birth to their first child, who they named Valarie Jean. They continued to pursue the extension of their family and in 1960 a son, Richard Jr., was added to the family. Richard pursued his living in the dairy industry delivering products on a daily basis to various establishments. He truly was loved his job and was proud of being a "Trucker". He retired in 1990. In 1997 Richard moved to Forney, TX. In his retirement he shared a passion for gardening, landscaping, and working on cars. He was the man in the neighborhood that folks would seek out for his hard work, experience, and friendship. The ultimate goal in Richard's retirement was fulfilled with his commitment of unconditional love for his family especially his two granddaughters Raelynn and Jadeen. He will be truly missed....................
