Richard “Duck” Duckworth ,70 of Forney passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020. He was born January 2, 1950 in Dallas to J.D. Duckworth and Imogene Smith Duckworth. Richard was born and raised in Sunnyvale, Texas and graduated from Forney High School in 1968. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed riding his Harley.He was also an animal lover, most especially his beloved late pug, Harley. He was a General Contractor in the construction industry for 50 years. According to his family, Duck was “as smart as a whip and as mean as a toad” but would give you the shirt off of his back., His greatest joy however, was his family and he had a very special relationship with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Imogene Duckworth, daughter, Jana Anne McKinney; sister, Barbara Vaughn and brother, Teddy Duckworth. Survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Kerri Thompson and husband Blair; Shelly Canion and husband Greg, Codi Mercer and husband Lance and Gena King and husband David; 12 grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Hayden, Cory, Kyle, Blake, Sydney, Tatum, Reese, Turner, Chelsea and Jamie; 9 great-grandchildren; Riley, Mckenzie, Cooper, Jake, Hudson, Addison, Gauge, Samantha and Colt; brother, Danny Duckworth and sister, Janis Crawford. A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will precede the service, beginning at 11:00 AM on Thursday. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of New Hope Funeral Home, 500 E. Highway 80, Sunnyvale, TX.
