Richard Rudolph Ashcroft Jr. , 72, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Ridgecrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Forney, TX. He is survived by his sons, Richard “Trey” Ashcroft and wife Tanya, Jason Ashcroft, his brother, Don Ashcroft, his sister in-law Sue Ashcroft, his cousin, Sue Burford; his first wife, Patricia Ashcroft, six grandchildren, Jessica, Devin, Justin Ashcroft, and Michael, Alana and Joseph Carew; close family friend, Mark Thomas, and many more. Born in Alexandria, LA. the son of Richard and Doris (Barrios) Ashcroft, Richard lived in Shreveport and Winnfield most of his young life. In his early years, Mr. Ashcroftworked forthe family's business, Ashcroft Lumber Company.After graduating from Byrd High School in 1961, he attended Northwestern State University, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He met his first wife, Patricia Bryant during his college years and they were married in 1968 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Winnfield, LA.In 1970, his first born son Richard “Trey” Ashcroft III was born, two years later the family was blessed with another son, Jason Ashcroft. In 1974, he began his career as a salesman for Georgia Pacific Lumber Company, and the Ashcroft’s relocated to Forney, TX.In 1991, he was promoted to the Executive Sales Manager position with Georgia Pacific and relocated to Atlanta, GA.He not only took pride in his career, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Over the years, his business management expertise and reputation led him to be named one of the top Sales Executives for Georgia Pacific. Richard was an avid LSU football fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retiring, he enjoyed his travels across the United States.He loved to cook, enjoyed good food and socializing, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.He will truly be missed.
