Rev. LaVern Inzer

December 15, 1924 — December 27, 2018

LaVern Angus Inzer was born in Arkansas on December 15, 1924. He passed away in Mesquite, Texas on December 27, 2018. He served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier in the Philippines during World War 2. LaVern was called to full time ministry at the age of 17 and was pastor of his first church in Holly Ridge, LA from 1947 to 1948. In 1949 they went to California to serve. In 1959 he was asked if he would object to being prayed for to come to Nevada. He replied no and asked what his area of ministry would be. Rev. Sigle replied, "Only 40,000 miles." He became pastor of First Baptist Church, Winnemucca, Nevada from 1959 to 1970.He and Elva then led First Baptist Church, Carlin, Nevada for the next 30 years. He also spent every day of the week traveling to the smaller communities preaching as well as working on the reservations. He, Elva, and the kids were instrumental in starting almost every Southern Baptist Church in Northern Nevada. They retired to Dallas, Texas to be close to family. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Elva Lorraine Hand and son Kenneth Inzer. He is survived by two Sons, Stanton Inzer in Spokane Washington, Wayne Inzer, Sunnyvale, Texas, and one daughter Rebecca Cramer of Sunnyvale, Texas and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
