Ravanel Choate

Ravanel Choate, age 89, passed away on September 6, 2022. Ravanel was born in Lake Creek, TX to Alton Goolsby and Lena Anderson on August 29, 1933. She married Darrell Choate of Lakecreek, TX on December 25, 1950.

Ravanel was survived by her son, Reid Choate and his wife Twyla Choate of Forney, TX; Grandaughter Marissa Riddle of Mesquite; Grandsons Loyd Choate of Kaufman; Dustin Choate and wife Justin of Weatherford, TX. Sisters, Judy Fowler and Leetta Goolsby, both of Quinlan, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Choate, Alton Goolsby (Father), Lena Anderson (Mother), Joyce Barham (Sister), Lanette Tull (Sister), Martha Magouirk (Sister), Curb Goolsby (Brother), Wilber Goolsby (Brother).

Ravanel was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Mesquite, where she served as Church Secretary for several years. She then worked for the City of Mesquite where she retired after 25+ years of service.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 from 1:30 to 2:30pm at the First United Methodist Church of Mesquite, 300 North Galloway.

Services for Ravanel Choate will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Mesquite with Pastor Wally Butts officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12701 Lake June Road, Mesquite, TX immediately following services.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to First Methodist Church of Mesquite, 300 N. Galloway, Mesquite, TX 75149.
