It is with heavy hearts and a lifetime of cherished memories that we say goodbye to Randall "Randy" Earl Howard, 66, of Mesquite, Texas. He left this world on December 25, 2024, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. Randy was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. Randy's warm smile, sharp mind, and positive spirit brought joy to everyone he met. Always just a phone call away, he offered unwavering support, encouragement, and even a friendly debate when needed. He truly enjoyed helping others, selflessly giving his time and love without expecting anything in return.
Born to J.C. and Jackland Howard in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 19, 1958, Randy was the oldest of four children. He loved being the big brother to Tim, Robin and Jamie. He enjoyed his high school years in Texas and North Carolina, and was a proud Eagle Scout. After graduating from Lejeune High School, he pursued a degree in Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Arlington. He soon discovered an interest in programming and became a key member of the team that developed the modern-day ATM. Randy was an avid reader, a skilled handy-man, and weather enthusiast. He had a love for both the beach and the mountains, and the family spent many years skiing on the slopes and building sandcastles by the sea.
Randy met the love of his life, Renee, in 1987. Upon marrying on June 23, 1990, they began their family with Amber and Ashley and then together had Alexandria and Andree. Randy was a devoted father who never missed an opportunity to support his girls - the "Mesquite Elite". Whether it was a football game, band concert, choir recital, drill team performance, soccer match, running event, or honor society induction, Randy was always there, proudly cheering them on. He took pride in being present to celebrate every milestone, big and small. He instilled core values in his girls such as doing your best (but your best is an A!), working hard, and being strong, independent women.
Randy was a busy empty-nester, enjoying concerts, Dallas Stars games, and movies with Renee, as well as golfing and playing pool with friends. Throughout his life, Randy volunteered his time at his girls' events, and later continued giving back through the Girl Scouts, the Arboretum, Bank of America, and many other organizations. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his kids, friends and siblings... and then came the grandkids! Randy loved to pass along his sage wisdom to his granddaughters, Jenna and Megan, during volleyball games and theater performances. He was overjoyed to welcome grandsons Jack Randall and John in 2023, spending precious time with them, showering them with love, and celebrating every small achievement as he watched them grow.
Randy's life was one of love, laughter, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Randy is survived by his wife Renee, of 34 years; daughter Amber and husband Jimmie; daughter Ashley and husband Chad; daughter Alexandria and husband Matthew; daughter Andree and fiancée Nikki; grandchildren Tate, Allison, Jenna, Megan, Jack, and John; mother, Jackland Rose; siblings Timothy and wife Barbara; Robin and husband Leon; and Jamie as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, J.C. Howard.
