Preston Patterson, age 58, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Sunnyvale, Texas. He was born September 21, 1965 in Dallas, Texas.
Preston married the love of his life, Melinda, in June of 1993 after they reunited in Walmart. Preston worked in furniture sales and was an avid salesman who later owned his own furniture store. In 2005, he received a liver transplant from a woman named Rose. Rose gave him almost 20 more precious years of life. Preston committed the remainder of his life to his family, friends, and community. He was active in numerous political campaigns, community events, and was the crime watch leader of his neighborhood. He even won a contest to name a park in Mesquite, "Heritage Trail".
Preston, also known as "Bud" or "Buddy", was a great friend to everyone he met and never knew a stranger. He especially loved his best friend Shorty and his son DJ. He was hardly ever serious and always loved a good joke. He was an active member of Harvest Church in Mesquite, Texas, and loved to serve others.
Preston is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melinda Patterson, of Mesquite; his children, Marykay Aguilar and spouse Isai, Monica Banks and spouse Bobby, Tamra Griggers and spouse Aaron, Aaron Archer and spouse Cheryn, Travis Bedwell and spouse Paige, and Derek Steimle and spouse Chris; his brothers, John Carona, Thomas Patterson, Kenneth Patterson, Sr., and their spouses; along with his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a very proud Pappy to his 20 grandchildren: Maximus Aguilar, Judah Aguilar, Thomas Banks, Millie Banks, Skyler Griggers, Hayden Griggers, Bailee Griggers, Avalynn Griggers, Preslee Griggers, Emberlynn Griggers, Talisen Griggers, Kalei Archer, Amie Archer, Hope Archer, Nathaniel Archer, Ezekiel Archer, Josephine Archer, Lyric Bedwell, Jhett Bedwell, and Ryder Bedwell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Kathryn Patterson; and sister, Mary Kay Woodall.
The service for Preston Patterson will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday - August 23, 2024, at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, Texas. Interment will follow at the Smyrna Cemetery in Emory, Texas at 2:30 PM.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at New Hope Funeral Home.
