STONE, Peggy Louise of Mesquite, born November 18, 1930, passed away October 11, 2012. Preceded in death by husband, James Henry Stone. Survived by children, Laura Eyre &, Craig Stone; son-in-law, Charles S. Eyre; daughter-in-law, Debra Stone; grandchildren, James Eyre, Philip Eyre; brother, Stanley Simmons. Also survived by her beloved companion and protector Lady and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She never turned any stray animal away that found its way to her door. She retired from AT&T aftre 38 years of service. Peggy had a servant's heart. Over the years, she volunteered her time teaching adult literacy classes at the Mesquite Public Library. She also taught ceramics class at local nursing homes, working closely with the activity directors. She served as the assistant treasurer of St. Patrick's Eiscopal Church in Dallas for many years as well as treasurer of Grace Episcopal Church in Mesquite. She volunteered her time with the Dallas Museum of Natural History and the Science Place as well as the Telephone Pioneers of America. Peggy spent many years mentoring young girls. She served as Mother Advisor of Mesquite Assembly #268 Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She also served in the Demolay Mothers Club in Mesquite.She also supported and volunteered her time with The Shriner's Burn Hospital in Galveston as well as the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. She was a past Worthy Matron of Mesquite Chapter #887 Order of the Eastern Star as well as an active 50 year member of the same chapter. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, service, and laughter to all that knew and cherished her.
